Scroll to explore the predominant interior design trends of winter 2020/21. We've done the research and put together this information to inspire you and keep you up to date with the recent trends and current interior styles.
This winter, we saw a minimalistic trend taking over interiors by storm. This Nordic inspired style aligned with the 'hinching' with Mrs Hinch and Marie Kondo period where busy-ness was out of sight and out of mind. We went on to see a contrasting trend that exuded vibrancy and artsy interiors. This trend was for those who are not afraid of colour or statement interior design. Following on from the autumnal brown and beige colours, earthy neutral tones took over the fashion and interior design industry without hesitation. We were seeing more and more beige and brown flooring coming back on trend instantly. Finally, we looked at how geometric shapes and wood effect patterns were being used to add a sense of dimension to a room. Which trend was your favourite?
In 2021, we are seeing more trends surrounding the shapes and textures of flooring come to show. With a minimalistic approach taking the world by storm in 2020, we expect to come into our own with statement flooring to spruce up otherwise bare interiors. From hexagons and diamonds to chevron and parquet with stone effect tiles as well, these flooring styles are coming in hot at Flooring Direct. Check out our range of vinyl flooring for inspiration.
You can recreate these looking using vinyl and laminate flooring which offer wood, tile and stone effect floors without the added expense. Laying statement flooring in the bedroom, living room or bathroom leaves you with a fresh, modern canvas to add feature light fixtures and abstract ornaments for a chic style.
This particular trend derives from a naturalistic approach to interior design, pulling tones and textures originally found in nature to our own homes. Warm colours such as rusty orange and rich brown bring a soothing quality to the colour palette of a room, whilst muted green and pink offer intrigue and a unique bohemian feel,.
At Flooring Direct we would incorporate this trend by adding a rich wooden floor, a soft golden carpet or a deep vinyl design. Adding muted décor, foliage, chunky knit textures and linen upholstery will further this organic style.
This style is fundamentally unlimited, accepting the dynamic and vibrant style of those who chose to implement it. With the use of zestful colours, geometric patterns and floral designs joy can be brought to a room. Though a tricky style to get right, if these colours and patterns are tastefully used, a room will feature as a constant source of life for those who enter it.
Here at Flooring Direct we would create this look through the use of our patterned vinyl, warm carpet or any wooden flooring we have on offer. From this, layers can be built with simple furniture and artwork to create a bold and vibrant space.
As indicated by name, this style draws upon the minimalism of traditional Scandinavian interior whilst still maintaining an inviting, welcoming and bright appearance. To achieve this style, colour palettes remain light in shade and cool in tone. Elements of high contrast, medium wood and royal colours however can be used minimally to achieve a sophisticated feature point.
At Flooring Direct we would achieve this Nordic look by utilising light shades of tiles, concrete style vinyl or medium wooden flooring. These options work to provide a stunning yet simple base of which can highlight any statement furniture or contrasting textiles used.
