Scotia Type – MDF & Waterproof Polymer Options

We offer two main types of scotia beading to suit different flooring installations and environments: traditional MDF scotia and waterproof polymer scotia.

MDF Scotia Beading

MDF scotia is the traditional and most commonly used option for finishing laminate, engineered wood and solid wood flooring. It provides a clean, decorative way to cover expansion gaps around the perimeter of a room. MDF scotia is cost-effective, easy to cut and install, and available in a wide range of colours and finishes to match popular flooring styles. It is best suited to dry areas such as living rooms, bedrooms and hallways.

Polymer Waterproof Scotia

Polymer scotia beading is a fully waterproof alternative, making it ideal for moisture-prone areas such as kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms. Unlike MDF, waterproof polymer scotia will not swell, warp or deteriorate when exposed to humidity or occasional splashes. It is particularly suitable for LVT, SPC and other waterproof flooring installations where durability and moisture resistance are essential.

Whether you require a traditional MDF finish or a waterproof solution for wet areas, our range of scotia types ensures you can achieve a neat, professional edge to any flooring project.
