Can I fit my vinyl floor in time for Christmas?

If you have ordered your vinyl flooring up to two weeks before Christmas then your new affordable flooring should be down in time for Christmas. This is because a vinyl floor is easy to fit yourself. Unlike carpet and laminate flooring which can be slightly harder to install, sheet vinyl floors can be done by a complete amateur. One of our customers even sent in a funny but also an educational tutorial video on how to lay flooring.

In comparison to other flooring types such as laminate, vinyl is considered easy to fit. This is particularly true if you have bought from either our Beauflor category or that of Flooring Direct. Why is it so easy though?

Here are just some reasons why you can get your vinyl floor down in time for Christmas. You don’t need to worry about underlay, and if you have ordered slightly too much, all you need is a sharp knife! Because you don’t need underlay, which you would for laminate floors and installing carpet, your floor can be laid over anything. If it is an existing hard surface like laminate, stone, concrete or even ceramic tiled flooring, then you can just lay the vinyl floor over the top. It looks so natural that you wouldn’t need to worry about any judgement when the family comes over for Christmas.

Will my vinyl flooring cope with the Christmas traffic?

In short, yes it should survive the Christmas rush. But as with all flooring, you need to be wary of pets going to town on your floor. Unlike a wooden floor or even laminate floors, vinyl flooring can absorb the pounding of feet, making it more durable and also quieter. If that family member is stumbling along the hallway after one glass too many, your vinyl floor should stand up to this.

Don’t panic about your kids or family ruining your floor. It should survive even if it is brand new. What’s more, if there is a red wine spill or water spillage, the floor will be able to withstand this and it would simply be a wipe-clean job!
