Imagine your dream living space, and then follow this 4 point plan of how to ensure you get the best flooring possible in your home. If you haven’t chosen a type of flooring yet, check out our website and see what we can do! Vinyl flooring, laminate flooring and carpets are all available!
1. Picture your home
a. We’re not asking you to create a work of art but draw your home. Get a piece of paper and draw the perimeter room by room.

2. Fireplaces, nooks and crannies
a. If the perimeter of the room has things like a chimney breast, a recess or fireplace, then measure the perimeter only. The carpet will always get cut around these areas.

3. Calculations
a. When coming up with the measurements, breakdown the process bit by bit. By following your diagram and then writing the relevant measurement next to the perimeter line representing that wall on your picture. It’s always best to allow an extra 5 or 7 % to allow for overrun.

4. One last check
a. Don’t forget to run the numbers just one more time. You really need to nail this first bit as you’ll only get 1 chance to get it wrong and then there’s a real problem. Measure up more than once and cover a little extra for the trims and overrun.

Out with the old and get ready for the new!
So you’ve come this far, well done! Next, you’ll need to prepare your floor. Whatever lies in the way of your new carpet must be fully cleared including the subfloor in order to create strong enough foundations for your luxury new flooring.

Removing old flooring
So the first thing will be removing the existing carpet and underlay. Once taken away the preparation on the floor of the room is essential. Any imperfections or raise in the floor, nails or concrete mounds will affect the carpets look and feel. Take some time getting the floor as flat and free from rubble and bits as possible.

Subfloor preparation tips

● You’ll be on your knees for quite some time so some knee pads would always help.
● Make sure the floorboards are always free from nails and tacks sticking up. Check each floorboard and take time not to miss any.
